Container Canopy vs Container Dome, Tent and Awning

Buyers use a lot of names for these structures. Not all of them mean the same thing.

Container canopy. A truss frame spans the gap between two containers. A PVC cover goes over the frame. The floor stays open with no center posts. This is what we build.
Container dome or hoop shelter. An arched hoop frame carries fabric in a curve. Some mount on one container. Headroom drops fast near the edges.
Container tent or container tarp roof. A light fabric top, often sold as a kit. Good for short jobs. Thin covers and light frames wear out in wind and snow.
Container awning or lean-to. A roof off one side of a single container. It shades a doorway. It does not create a full covered bay.

All heights assume standard 8 ft 6 in containers. Hi-cube containers at 9 ft 6 in add one foot of clearance and one foot of height.

Single Truss vs Double Truss Container Canopies

The truss is the frame that carries the roof. You have two choices.
Single truss. One truss line per bay. It uses our proprietary Rail Mount System and bolts straight to the container. No welding. Available in 26 ft and 40 ft widths. Pick it for mild to moderate wind and snow loads.
Double truss. Two truss lines per bay. The mounting plates weld to the container. Available in 40 ft, 60 ft and 80 ft widths. Pick it when code calls for higher wind or snow capacity, or when you need a 17 ft or 23 ft clear height.

How a Shipping Container Canopy Gets Installed

You already own the walls. Your containers do that job. We add the frame and the cover on top.
A crew sets the trusses across both containers. Then the cover goes on. No lacing. No pouring. Most jobs finish in a day or two.
Conex roof and conex shelter systems mount the same way. On single truss builds the Rail Mount System clamps to the container using standard hardware, so we drill nothing and weld nothing.
You keep the yard space you have. You just gain a roof over it.

Inside Mount or Outside Mount

Both single truss and double truss systems mount two ways.
Inside mount sets the frame on the inner edges of the containers. The roof covers the bay between them. It uses less material.
Outside mount sets the frame on the outer edges. The roof covers the bay and the container tops. Water sheds clear of the boxes and you gain dry storage on top.
